How Often Should I Get A Facial?

My minimum recommendation is to have a facial at least four times per year, one for each season.
With each new season comes changes in the weather and environment. These elements affect our skin differently. Our mood even changes with the weather and this also alters our skin’s needs. If we want our skin to look its best, we need to change our treatment plan and products. For instance, skin tends to be dryer in the winter, so you would not use the same moisturizer that you apply during humid summer months.

My minimum recommendation; however, is not the best solution for everyone. If you have a skin concern, you may need more treatments to resolve the problem. Also, if you  are either lazy or too busy and don’t do much for your skin in between sessions, I would recommend coming in more often to maintain the results. Those of you who come every month know what facials have done for your skin.

Four times a year is good advice for individuals who take good care of their skin in between treatment sessions. If you give yourself mini-facials, increase alkaline based foods and antioxidant rich fruits and vegetables to your diet, and limit direct sun exposure, getting a facial at the change of each season will offer you a boost and will provide you with information about the best products for the next season.

For those who know me, I have shared some great tools on how to better care for your skin in between sessions. The Ageless System is one of my latest tools. The Secret of Coconut Milk

“I have a baby who has very bright skin, what is a natural way to help
a baby’s skin look and feel healthy? Is there something that I can use
that is gentle enough to use on an infant? I also want my body to look
nice and silky, any suggestions?”

A:

I frequently get asked questions on how to make the body look silkier
and smoother. Well we all know that there are products out there like
bronzers, and lotions with glitter or shimmer to make your skin have a
better glow. But how about a product that nourishes and makes your
skin tighter and firmer while giving better definition? And it’s
completely natural.

There is such a product and the secret has been used in many countries for decades. Coconut. Basically raw coconut milk, which you can buy from health food stores, like whole foods, works amazingly well when applied to the skin.

How to use it:
- Put the coconut milk in a spray bottle
- Choose your favorite essential oil (rose, lavender, grapefruit, etc.)
- Mix a couple drops of your essential oil with the coconut milk really well
- Use after you shower

When you use this, you do not need a body lotion. The coconut milk
penetrates into your skin and doesn’t stay on the surface like some
lotions and oils. Important Notes: You must keep it refrigerated.
The shelf life is only about 7 days because it is so pure and natural.

This is also great to use for kids when you add a little lavender
essential oil because it is soothing and helps to relax. It’s great
before bedtime to help them sleep.

Julie, I need your advice. As you know I have issues with my chest getting sun. I haven’t even been in the sun much yet, but my chest is red and has brown spots. I’ve been trying to take care of it and wear SPF daily but can’t minimize the redness and spots. 2 questions – any ideas for repair and secondly – what kind of sunscreen do I need? I wear high SPF and this still happens. Thanks! Hope to see you at your next visit!

Hello,

When you have sun damage on the chest area due to excess sun exposure or areas that were burnt by the sun at a younger age in your life, you will begin to see the visible signs of the damage. The redness shows below the surface due to slow healing and the brown spots cover the surface producing pigments trying to prevent further damages. The permanent brown spots act as an alert.

1) A chest treatment weekly for 6 weeks can help to slowly repair the area. It may take longer time for the redness to heal but will surely improve the texture and lighten the brown spots.

2) Avoid direct sun exposure between 12pm and 3pm. Wear zinc based SPF30 and apply every hour. Cover exposed areas with t-shirt or scarf.

It’s all about the Eyes!

Tired eyes can actually make you look older. What can you do to make your eyes look younger instantly?

Try this! Do it like a pro:

1) Place two spoons in the freezer for 5 min

2) While waiting, do light acupressure around the eye area

-Start from the inner corner of the eyes with point finger apply light pressure with 3 pumping movements

-Light pressure on the brow bones and finish at the corner of the eyes -Light pressure on the temple with 3 pumping movements

-From the inner corner close to the tear duct apply light pressure with 3 pumping movements

-Light pressure on the lower eye socket and finish at the corner of the eyes

-Light pressure on the temple with 3 pumping movements

Do this at least 3 passes

3) Take the spoons out of the freezer

4) Lay down and cover eyes with the spoon and let stay for 5min

5) Apply your favorite eye treatment product

Prevention

-Decrease on sodium and sugar at least 2 hours before bedtime

-Drink lots of water -Sleep on 2 pillows after drinking alcohol

-Do the acupressure points before bed

-Use right ingredients for your eyes and make sure not to apply the products too close to the eye areas

-Clean house with detox

-Wear sunglasses when outdoors
