Part 2: Spa Facials Vs. Result Oriented Facials

When considering a facial there are two main categories that you can
consider: a General Spa Facial or a Result Oriented Facial. First
decide what your goals are when getting a facial. Are you looking to
fix your acne? Do you want relaxation? Are you focused on decreasing
wrinkles?

If your focus is mainly relaxation, a spa facial will do the trick.
At a spa, the estheticians have certain facials on their menu that all
aim for relaxation and cleansing. It will be an enjoyable experience.
If you have pretty good skin and just require maintenance every
season, this is a good option.

If you are trying to focus on getting your skin in shape, then
consider a result oriented facial. Lets face it, if you are going to
be spending money, you should get quality ingredients on your skin
with quality results. When you see a skin specialist for a result
oriented facial you are going to feel rejuvenated and get the
attention your skin deserves. When focusing on acne, age spots,
wrinkles etc, you can only see minimal results with only spa facials.

4 Steps for Clean and Clear Skin

Having beautiful skin is something everyone looks up to. Unfortunately, not every other person gets it. Surely, your genes play an important role in determining how your skin will react towards different conditions and products. Yet, there are steps every person can take in order to set things right. If you are someone looking forward to a new skin care regimen that can give you the desired results then here it is:

These four basic steps will give your skin the glow it deserves by keeping it clean and protected.

Step # 1: Cleanse Thoroughly:

Cleansing is the most important step. It will clean all the dirt and oil stored in your skin layers to a certain extent. The first thing you need to do is to find a good cleanser for yourself. Remember, when we say ‘good’ we are not referring to expensive. A general misconception among people is that the more expensive a product is the better it performs. You can even make a cleanser at home and if it suits your skin type it will definitely be the best for you. Also, don’t cleanse your skin too often. Try cleansing it at night before hitting the sac. If you have dry skin, use a good moisturizer or cold cream after cleansing.

Step # 2: Exfoliating Is The Key…

Exfoliating is one of the most neglected steps. You shouldn’t skip it if you want to keep your skin healthy, clean and glowing. It removes the layer of dead cells from your skin. Exfoliating once a week with a well suited scrub should do the job. Just make sure you are not scrubbing too hard. Gentleness is the key.

Step # 3: Get a Good Moisturizer…

Buying a good moisturizer can be complicated. You have to be very careful about your skin type. Moisturizing your skin is important regardless of what your skin type is. Moisturizing regularly keeps the skin soft and young. You can avoid pre-mature aging of the skin and wrinkles if you regularly moisturize your skin.

Step # 4: Never Forget the Sunscreen…

Most people think sunscreen creams are just for athletes or for the beach party. This is absolutely ridiculous. Sunscreen creams are a dire need. They protect your skin from sun damage. If you can get a sunscreen cream that has moisturizing capabilities as well then that’s the ideal thing to go for.

Q and A

Q:

Hi Julie,

I have heard so much about you and your customized facials. I think one of the facials you offered to my close friend not too long ago was called emotional facial. Not sure if this is correct. I feel like my skin could use some tune up after a break up. Thought you be the right person to do some magic on my sad looking skin. I think you should post this topic up on your blog so that everyone knows where to go after a break-up:)

Hello,

I do call one customized facial  MOODY SKIN THERAPY. Basically it is a perk up treatment that will help to increase circulation in your skin as well as to control some breakouts or impurities that have been increased during the emotional roller coaster. Some skin follows the mood or emotional state and the skin tends to look sallow, uneven color, dryness, break outs along the jaw, forehead or mouth area. Some redness and irritation could also appear. I often include a Mind Detox session during your treatment and a follow up 30min session 7 days after to monitor the progress of healing the skin.

I hope you are feeling better knowing that I do have a cure for sad skin.

Best,
Julie

5 Things to Avoid If You Want Healthy Skin

A plethora of tips and suggestions can be found here and there regarding ‘how to maintain healthy skin’.

However, not many people are talking about what you should avoid in order to preserve the natural moisture of your skin and keep it healthy. There are a couple of things you need to watch out for which we will discuss in this article. Before you go any further I want you to know that I truly believe in the saying ‘prevention is better than cure’. So, your emphasis should always be on protecting your skin instead of paying for the damage done.

Here are the 5 things you should avoid in order to keep your skin healthy and radiant:

Avoid the Sun:

First and the foremost, protect your skin from sun damage. Of course, you can’t hide in a dark place until its dark.  What I mean is that you should always wear protective clothes and use a good sunscreen when you are out and about. Remember, the sun rays are strongest between 10 am and 4 am. This is the time when you need to be extremely careful.

Drink Enough…

Secondly, make sure that you are drinking enough fluids. Water and fresh juices should be on the top of your list. Avoid fizzy drinks or energy drinks; they won’t do any good for your skin.

Avoid Alcohol and Smoking…

Alcohol and smoking are definitely two things that are highly hazardous for the skin. Alcohol and nicotine can contribute towards pre-mature aging of the skin, wrinkles and dryness. At times, smokers and drinkers also get brown patches on their skin due to the lack of oxygen to the outer layers. Remember, nicotine blocks the way for oxygen and other important nutrients to reach the outer layer of the skin which stops it from rejuvenating.

Don’t Use Harsh Chemicals…

Unfortunately, most of the skin care products today come with chemicals that can damage your skin badly. Even the most top notch products that claim to be safe are the same. The best way to make sure you are using safe products is to check the labels for alcohol content and preservatives. If alcohol is present in the cosmetic then you must avoid using it.

Eat Well…

As they say ‘you are what you eat’. This is especially important to understand when it comes to taking care of your skin. Try to include lots of fresh fruits and raw vegetables in your diet. Also, grains, meat and whole foods should be taken to make sure your body gets all the nutrients such as proteins, vitamins, minerals and the like.

Something to think about!

Best,

Julie
