Beauty Tips of The Week: How to Achieve that Springtime Glow Inside & Out

Spring Glow with exfoliationSpring is the season of rebirth and rejuvenation. It is a time for spring cleaning everywhere, which should include your skin and pores. You can start this spring with a healthy glow inside and out by shedding your old skin using a nutrient-rich homemade exfoliating scrub. Exfoliation will gently remove the old skin while breathing life into new and more radiant skin.

Give Your Skin a Sugar Scrub

Exfoliating your skin is refreshing for the mind and body, plus it goes a long way toward improving the appearance and health of your skin cells. A sugar scrub is especially effective because it is gentle enough that it won’t scratch or burn your skin. It is a great choice for sensitive skin, but everyone should use it because unprocessed sugar contains natural glycolic acid that will give you a more nourishing exfoliation and improve the circulation in your skin.

Antioxidant Sugar Scrub

There are so many different types of antioxidant-rich sugar scrub recipes that you can create on your own at home. The most basic method is to combine a cup of sugar with half a cup of olive oil. Mix these two household staples together and you will have a sweet and effective way to rejuvenate your skin.

For a full-body dose of antioxidants, try adding a tablespoon or two of green tea into the mix. Green tea can heal, strengthen, and brighten your skin naturally. It is also an excellent way to nourish your body on the inside. If you do not have green tea, you can stir in a touch of honey for more moisture.

Oatmeal Exfoliating Scrub

Ground oatmeal is a wonderful and effective base for an exfoliator, because it will absorb and remove impurities while leaving your skin feeling nourished and hydrated. It also has been known to soothe and heal sunburn, dry skin, and acne. It is also ideal for people with sensitive skin, as it won’t scratch or burn. Mix a tablespoon of oatmeal and a teaspoon of olive oil with 1/4 teaspoon of salt. The salt will enhance the oatmeal’s exfoliating properties.

Morning Antioxidant-Rich Raw Juices

Another way to cleanse your skin and bring out its natural glow is a morning ritual of antioxidant-rich raw juices. Natural fruit and vegetable juices contain a significant amount of vitamins and antioxidants that will cleanse your body of preservatives, toxins, and other chemicals that seep into your skin due to the pollution in our environment. Drinking the juice of dark berries like acai berries, black currants, blackberries, and blueberries or the juice of dark vegetables like beetroot and broccoli are all great for naturally giving your skin that springtime glow.

Beauty Tips of The Week: Cleansing Your Skin from the Inside

exerciseEighty percent of how your skin looks on the outside will depend on how healthy your skin is on the inside. The outer skin acts like a filter that absorbs nutrients and expels toxins. If it is not getting enough nutrients or it is ingesting too many toxins, it will throw it off balance and cause blockages in the natural flow.  Clogged skin cells will result in dry, wrinkled and lack luster skin.

By detoxifying and cleansing your skin from the inside, you can remove these toxins and breathe life back into your skin. An effective skin detox will improve your digestion and nutrition absorption, enhance your immunity, give you an increase in energy, all while clearing your skin cells of harmful toxins.

Here are some powerful tips for cleansing your skin from the inside:

Drink Plenty of Water!

Water is essential for detoxifying. It not only delivers nutrients to our cells and keeps our kidneys functioning well, but it also aids in eliminating wastes and toxins. To maintain healthy skin, you need to drink at least six glasses of water every day.

Dry Skin Brushing

The skin is the body’s largest organ used for eliminating toxins and waste. Dry skin cells accumulate on the outer layers of the skin and when you use mineral-oil based moisturizers or wear tight-fitting clothing, it can cause these pores to clog.  Dry skin brushing is used to remove the outer layers, allowing the pores to breathe and detoxify more effectively. Brush your body (except your chest and face) for about 10 minutes in a circular motion when your skin is completely dry. Do not scrub so hard that you skin turns red. Follow your dry skin brushing with a cool or lukewarm shower or bath. Do not use hot water, since it will dry out your skin.

Eat Plenty of Fruit

Antioxidants help protect the skin from environmental damage, as well as premature aging. Make sure a variety of antioxidant-rich fruits are a daily part of your detox. Some great choices are blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, cherries, pears, pomegranates and plums.

Sweat Out the Toxins

Exercise for at least 30 minutes every day. Any type of exercise that will make you sweat will work. The idea is to increase your blood circulation, relax your muscles and most importantly, get rid of excess toxins through sweating. You can also detoxify by sweating it out in a sauna.

You can cleanse and detox your skin by drinking plenty of water, dry brushing your skin, eating fruits rich in antioxidants, and sweating out the toxins. When your body is clean and clear on the inside, it will reflect in your skin.

Beauty Tips of The Week: Using a healthy diet to improve your skin

healthydietMany of the foods that are beneficial to our internal health are also able to improve the tone and texture of our skin. Simply by eating a healthier diet, we can rejuvenate our skin and bring back its natural luster.

Here are a few healthy choices that will improve your skin:

  1. Green Tea is rich in antioxidants that reduce inflammation and protect cell membranes. Drinking green tea has been proven to reduce the damage caused by sunburns which will reduce your risk of skin cancer. It is also a natural detoxifier that cleanses your body and skin of harmful toxins. Green tea is not only good for your skin, but it also high in vitamins C, D & K, as well as calcium, magnesium, iron, and zinc.
  2. Berries are one of the highest natural sources of antioxidants, which target free radicals that can damage your skin cells. Berries are essential to a healthy diet, since they are also an excellent source of fiber, manganese, vitamin C & E and riboflavin.
  3. Salmon are high in good fatty acids that are necessary for achieving healthy skin. Essential fatty acids like omega-3s provide your skin with nutrients that will keep cell membranes healthy longer. Omega-3s also reduce the body’s production of inflammatory agents that can cause damage to your skin. Salmon is also high in protein, potassium, selenium and vitamin B12.
  4. Carrots are an excellent source of vitamin A which is an essential nutrient for healthy skin. Vitamin A is required for developing skin cells and a deficiency can cause dry skin. They are also another great source of antioxidants, as well as fiber, vitamins B6, C, & K, potassium and thiamine.
  5. Water is absolutely necessary for the health of your skin. It hydrates cells, helps your skin absorb nutrients, and flushes out toxins. When the body is properly hydrated, it will also sweat more efficiently, which keeps the skin clean and clear.

A healthy diet that includes green tea, berries, salmon, carrots and water will improve your skin, especially if you also avoid unhealthy foods that can have a negative effect on your skin. Sugar, flour, saturated fats and fried foods are all especially bad for the skin, since they can cause oil and bacteria to accumulate beneath the skin. The skin is the outside indicator of good internal health, which is why a healthy diet can have such a positive effect on your skin.

It’s All about The Eyes

Healthy younger looking eyes

Lately, I have been receiving a lot of questions about how to make the eyes look younger, as well as how to correct dark circles, puffy eyes, droopy eyelids, crow’s feet, and fat under the eyes. As far as treatment goes, Radio Frequency and Dermapen therapy can both significantly help with tightening and strengthening the skin around the eyes.

Radio Frequency Therapy

Radio frequency therapy involves the use of electrical pulses for the reduction of wrinkles without damaging the skin. It is a method that transports heat energy to areas of the skin in order to inspire fresh collagen growth.  Radio frequencies offer women who want younger eyes essentially a facelift without surgery.

The skin is gently warmed with a blast of radio frequency waves encouraging collagen to rise to the surface of the skin. This strengthens the skin and reduces dark circles under the eyes. There is no skin incision in the process, so the recovery time is relatively short. It also will not burn the skin like invasive laser therapy.

Dermapen Therapy

Wrinkling around the eyes is caused by habitual facial expressions, smoking, sun damage, aging, and poor hydration. Dermapen also helps to slowly minimize fine lines and restore collagen in the skin around the eyes. It effectively stimulates new skin by micro-needling the surface with the Dermapen’s vertical stamping method. This precise stimulation can be done quite quickly and the recovery time is minimal.

Radio frequency and Dermapen are both safe and effective treatments for tired eyes, but there are natural home-based solutions that can also help keeps your eyes looking young. Here are five simple tips to naturally brighten your eyes and maintain their youthful appearance.

1.  Get the Right Nutrition & Hydration

Your eyes respond to the nutrients you consume and the amount of hydration you receive, the same way the rest of your body does.  Water, Vitamins A and C, and Zinc are all necessary to eye health and eye appearance.

2. Tea Bags will Wake Up Your Tired Eyes

Tea bags are a great at-home beauty remedy to perk up puffy or tired eyes. The caffeine helps to shrink the underlying blood vessels and draws out some of the liquid that causes the swelling. Place the tea bags in hot water for a minute and then into ice water for a few seconds before applying them over your eyes.

3. Cleanse Your Face Nightly

Thoroughly removing all of your makeup every night is necessary for your eyes and eyelashes. This will keep the skin around your eyes feeling clean and refreshed.

4.  Apply Eye Cream at Night

Take care of the sensitive skin around your eyes by applying eye cream every night. Nourishing your skin with eye cream will keep that delicate skin healthy and soft, while making your eyes look brighter and younger.

5.  Enjoy your Beauty Sleep

Sleep is essential for young and vibrant eyes. Try to aim for eight hours every night and if you still wake up with puffiness around the eyes, try using a cold compress to bring down the swelling.

6. Choose the right ingredients

Choose products that contains these ingredients: Peptides, Eyeliss, Haloxyl, Vitamin A/Retinol, Vitamin C, Collagen, Stem Cell, Green tea, Cucumber, Arnica, Honey, Rose Hips.

Beauty Tips Of The Week – Six super ways to avoid acne breakouts!

There is no doubt that having acne is frustrating! It seems like the more you try to prevent it, the more new pimples appear the next day.  It is hard to stop impurities from clogging your pores when they are in the very air that surrounds us.  That is why it is necessary to do whatever you can to keep the oil and dirt from coming in contact with your face or other areas on your body that are susceptible to acne.

Here are the six super ways to avoid acne!facial breakouts

1)      Cleanse your face and neck at least twice a day to prevent environmental toxins from settling into your pores.

2)      A healthy diet and regular exercise are both necessary for keeping your skin looking its best. Green tea, tomatoes, and berries are rich in antioxidants that will benefit your skin.

3)      Choose high quality makeup that is oil free and use it sparingly.  Heavy makeup will clog your pores and make it easier for new acne to develop.

4)      Try not to touch your face. You would be surprised at how much bacteria is on your hands, even if you are constantly washing them. Our skin is naturally oily, so even clean hands can still spread acne to your face.

5)      Clean your cellphone often or don’t put it up to your face.  There are countless germs that will linger on your cellphone that you do not want to transfer to your face.

6)      If you suffer from acne, it is not a good idea to use an oil based sunscreen. Covering your skin in an oily substance will clog your pores and cause further breakouts.

You can break the cycle of acne by following these six simple steps and taking better care of your skin. Your skin is the outer shell that signifies your internal health. By investing a little time and energy into caring for your skin, it will have a beautiful healthy glow instead of bunch of stubborn pimples.

The Oscar’s Highlighting Real Beauty!

oscars beauty

Did you watch the Oscars?

If you did, you may have noticed that many of the celebrity’s faces looked more natural than previous years. The women looked real instead of having fake puffy lip, tight Botox skin and an overwhelming amount of heavy makeup. Hollywood’s elite is now choosing to show off their natural beauty. They are embracing their age and using real solutions to keep their skin looking fabulous.

What is their secret?

Celebrities are getting their red carpet skin ready using tightening facials, oxygen therapy, and skin resurfacing to reveal glowing and radiant skin. They also rely on a proven skincare regime designed to improve skin condition and prevent aging. One thing they will never forget before the big night is to get their regular facials. It is a necessary part of their lifestyle, just like going to the gym.

Many of your favorite stars are also taking advantage of the green beauty detox diet. The green green dietbeauty detox is based on eating ample amounts of nutrient-rich vegetables, beans, nuts and seeds. Instead of getting your protein from chemical altered meat, the green beauty detox gives your skin the protein it needs from organically grown, all-natural sources.

Plant food sources have more antioxidants, minerals and vitamins than animal sources. Plant proteins, cholesterol and fats are also healthier than those found in animals, especially if the plants were grown in organic soil. On the green beauty detox diet it is best to eat smaller amounts of plant protein throughout the day. This will help increase your energy level and allow you to maintain it all day long. Make sure to eat a little plant protein, like rice, tofu, soy milk, nuts and seeds with every meal.

Another skin secret of the stars is natural cell reviving treatments. Dead cells can build up on your face, causing your skin to lose its healthy glow. Makeup and heavy moisturizers will only make the problem worse. Exfoliating and using a light moisturizer is essential, especially during the dry winter months. Celebrities are performing five simple steps to natural revitalize their skin cells and the evidence of its success was obvious on Oscar night.

What can you do to have Red Carpet glow?

Follow these five simple steps:

The first step is to remove your makeup using an oil-based makeup remover before cleansing. Do not use harsh soaps, since they will further dry out your skin. The next step is to exfoliate a few times per week to remove dead skin. The third step is to tone your skin with a gentle astringent after cleansing to remove the excess oils and prepare your skin for moisturizer. The fourth step is to moisturize your skin with a light, oil-free moisturizer that contains sunscreen. The fifth and final step is to nourish your skin by taking vitamins C and E supplements. Sexy skin can be as simple as those five steps.

Another big trend in Hollywood is using natural skincare solutions. Simple all natural products can give your skin that youthful glow that radiated on the red carpet Sunday night. For example, papain which is found in papayas and pineapples can gently remove dead skin cells, decongest clogged pores and help improve skin texture and cell rejuvenation. You can blend some fresh papaya and use it as a mask, or grind some papaya enzyme tablets into your moisturizer to turn it into a hydrating, exfoliating mask. Olive oil is also a great cleanser and moisturizer, plus it helps remove makeup and soften scabs caused by acne. Many celebrities have also discovered that washing your face with chilled green tea is a great way to reduce redness and skin irritation.

Aging gracefully is not easy, especially when the years you have lived are obvious in your face and skin. By trying a green detox for your skin, using a natural cell reviving regimen, or adding all natural beauty products to your routine, you can bring out the best in your skin even if you don’t have the financial means of your favorite celebrities.

How to Fight Raccoon Eyes this winter

This time of year brings many fun things, but raccoon eyes aren’t one of them. Dark, puffy eyes and tired dry skin seems to be more prominent in the winter. This can be due to a number of factors, such as stress, lack of sleep, overconsumption of caffeine, too many cocktails or even just seasonal allergies.

But don’t fear! Here are some simple tips to help reduce the appearance of unsightly raccoon eyes and keep you looking fresh and rested over the holidays:

Protect your eyes – Even though it’s winter, sun damage is still a factor. Remember to wear a moisturizer with sunscreen and protect eyes with sunglasses when out and about; this is especially important if you’re planning on taking a winter vacation. If you do find yourself overexposed to the elements, try a cold compress such as chilled spoons or an eye mask to reduce swelling and bring blood vessels back to their normal size.

Take your vitamins – Aside from many health benefits, certain vitamins contain elements that are can keep you looking youthful. Vitamin K, which is found in green leafy vegetables such as spinach, Brussels sprouts, asparagus, broccoli and kale helps to reduce inflammation. Vitamin A, which is found in pumpkin, apricot and mango, contains antioxidants that fight aging skin, while Vitamin C increases collagen levels. Iron also plays an important role in helping to reduce under eye circles and improve overall health. Having a hard time getting your vitamins? It’s a good idea to work vitamin and antioxidant eye creams into your routine for added coverage.

Get some R & R – The holidays can surely be stressful, so it’s important to remember to take time out for some much needed rest. You can help to put your body in a relaxed state by doing things like aromatherapy with scented candles such as Jasmine, Lavender or Vanilla. If you’re having a hard time falling asleep, try the old favorite of a cup of warm milk, or a cup of chamomile tea, which is a natural anti-inflammatory.

If you’ve tried to get rid of dark under eye circles, and aren’t having any luck, contact me for an appointment or product recommendation.

Look Ageless with Supplements

Could We Look Ageless with Supplements?

If you ask most people – including yourself – what they wish for in terms of their skin, you will decidedly determine that you wish to reverse the effects of aging. Nobody wants to see new wrinkles develop or even see the emergence of age spots. Naturally, we turn to supplements to try to reverse the effects of aging or simply to stop them from showing at all. Is it possible, though, to look ageless with supplements or is it an effort in futility? Let’s take a look at some of the more well-known supplements on the market and whether they are worth the effort and expense.

Supplements that Work

For the past several years, I have recommended all my clients to supply nutrients to their skin from the inside out with the right food and supplements. Today they are many new options for skin, hair and nails but let’s focus on Hyaluronic Acid, Collagen and Vitamin C – the three essential components that will boost your skin health and literally show you the results you covet.

·         Hyaluronic Acid is an excellent moisturizer and helps to keep the skin looking young and supple. It is very tissue friendly and is extremely beneficial in the anti-aging process.

·         Collagen is excellent for the skin. It helps to restore elasticity and keep the skin looking vibrant and young. Most of the reason that we develop wrinkles is because of lack of skin elasticity. Many people get face lifts each year to combat the wrinkles not knowing that if they had taken care of their skin from the beginning, a face lift would not be necessary.

·         Vitamin C is one of the most important vitamins that you should take each day. It is an essential component in the production of collagen – mentioned above – and it is also an antioxidant and helps to eliminate the presence of free radicals in your skin.

I highly recommend Neocell super collagen C as I have seen results from taking them myself. The price is great for what it can do. Another brand is Reserveage collagen booster. This one may cost more money but it also supports the skin from the inside out. Hyaluronic Acid and Collagen also helps with joints allowing you to not only look great, but feel great too.

Magic Solutions for Beauty: Do they Really Exist?

There is no magic when it comes to having gorgeous skin, unless of course, you are blessed with excellent genetics. There are many secrets you can follow to have youthful looking skin using potions and lotions, as well as quick tips here and there. What if I tell you that if you could tweak your daily routine with the right skin care use, improving your diet, implementing the power of positive thinking and keep your heart smiling?

The Right Skin Care

In order to achieve the desired results – in the case, youthful looking skin – there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that you must use the right ingredients. Not everyone is able to use the same ingredients – whether it be due to allergies or incompatibility – but your skin care regimen should always be tailored to your specific skin type and tone. Using products that are not designed for your skin tone or type may inadvertently cause you to experience more issues.

Improve Your Diet

Your diet affects your skin in more ways than you realize. For example, eating oily foods will cause you to break out more often. The ideal diet will consist of approximately 15% of raw food each day. Raw food is the best food for your cells because it is highly packed with nutrients. In the cooking process – especially those processed foods that should be avoided – many of the nutrients are lost. Eating raw foods will deliver unsurpassed nutrition to your cells and revitalize them which will result in revitalized skin.

The Power of Positive Thinking

Emotional duress will present itself in many ways. It can affect your appearance, cause weight gain and also result in your skin losing its luster. While it can prove to be difficult in certain situations, training yourself to always think positively will in return, have a positive result on your skin. In addition, loving your physical self also allows your true beauty to show on the outside. All the more reason to be positive about yourself and the life you live.

If you are interested in learning how these little things can impact your skin’s beauty, let me show you how through my Ageless Beauty Inside Out Program. Visit my website at http://www.jlskinfitness.com to learn more.

How A Yoyo Diet (Losing Weight Fast) Can Cause Serious Facial & Body Skin Problems

More and more authoritative sources, including MSNBC’S Today show, Web MD, Medicine Net, Livestrong, and general health blogs online, are all saying one thing: losing weight fast, or choosing the route of the yo-yo diet, is not healthy.  And that’s just not a general statement.  Facts point to a dangerous cycle where women (and men) binge on weekends and starve themselves daily, resulting in organ, heart and skin damage to severe degrees.

Organ & Heart Damage

As a skin expert, I can tell you that a yo-yo diet is one of the worst diets you could go on.  Let’s look at the underlying problems and then the surface problem results in your skin.  First, yo-yo dieting is considered an ugly cycle that is linked to health problems including hypertension, gall bladder disease, and high cholesterol.  Today, heart disease is the number 1 silent killer of women, and if you are on a cycle of yo-yo dieting for five different times, your heart disease risk is greatly increased.  Besides this, yo-yo dieting can damage your bone density, lead to kidney and liver failure, and cause essential vitamin and mineral body deficiencies.

Skin Sagging

The yo-yo diet, or losing weight fast, contributes not only to facial skin sagging, but the skin on your body as well.  This is because this fast diet causes the skin to loosen while you’re losing weight only to be stretched again when you gain that weight back.  The result is a sagging, drooping appearance in your skin.

The Alternative!

You still want to lose weight, and you don’t want to take a year doing it, right?  I highly suggest the healthy alternative route of an alkaline diet combined with my Glowing Skin Diet.  This will not only improve your overall health and help you shed those pounds, but you’ll also be able to tighten skin on your face and body as well.  No more sagging skin.  You’ll look, feel and appear brighter, slimmer, healthier and prettier!

What can you do to cover the appearances of a hangover?

So, you make it to the next morning after a drinking binge the night before (chances are you may not have slept so well, alcohol interferes with sleep).  Do you feel (and look) like a dead person walking?  There are some things that you can do to avoid that tell-tale appearance by following some simple procedures.

Drinking alcohol takes away vital nutrients from the skin, causing it to look blotchy, pale and tired.  It can also contribute to pre-mature aging and breakdown of a healthy complexion.  You look and feel old and dismal.  But by doing a few little things and using the right facial products, you can help your skin to have an improved appearance and add a little life to that otherwise worn-out look.

There are several things you can do to minimize the appearances of a hangover.  Before bedtime—take milk thistle capsules to flush the liver, do a green powder to neutralize the stomach or take alkaline powder to alkaline the body while you sleep.

Other tips that may help to relieve hangover symptoms are as follows—

  • Upon waking up, do a morning cleanse.  Warm water with 3/4 lemon juice and a pinch of cayenne pepper which helps to cleanse the stomach
  • While taking a shower, use (in this order) warm water, followed by hot water, then concluding with a super cold rinse (as far as you can take it).  Repeat this process three times.  This will increase blood circulation and tighten the skin, thus improving one’s appearance.

What products should you use?

Besides the harm done to the inside organs, drinking alcohol causes the skin to lose necessary vitamins and nutrients.  So, before bedtime and first thing in the morning, apply facial products with ingredients that are rich in antioxidants, vitamins and nutrients, such as argireline, peptides and caffeine.

The next time you go out on a drinking binge, try to limit yourself so you don’t harm your system.  But if you did go overboard, refer to these handy tips to cleanse your body and get on the fast track to a returning healthy appearance.

Why People Are Willing To Change Diet But Not Skin Care, & 4 Steps To Happy, Healthy Skin

As a skin care expert, I’ve been able to change the lives of many people by investing them with confidence and beauty.   Some of the responses I get from my clients, however, simply amaze me.  If you’re willing to go that extra mile and feed your body with organic, pure and clean food, why aren’t you doing the same for your skin?

If you spent money on a beautiful, expensive Chanel purse, would you treat it with care or toss it around like a piece of garbage?

This goes for facials. How do you expect to have great skin when you simply pay attention to caring for it whenever you think your skin needs attention?  It’s not the once-a-month facial that will keep your skin glowing everyday, but the humdrum maintenance process.  This is far more important than going to a skin care specialist once in awhile.

I sure wish I had the gift of the genie and could simply make all the imperfection disappear with a snap of my fingers.  But it doesn’t work that way, unless you go for the quick fix.  Remember, that Botox injection or well-praised filler will only make you face look plumper.  But your skin will still be in a poor condition both below and on the surface.

Look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself how you want to age?

Gracefully?  Youthfully?  Agelessly?

Follow these three guidelines for healthy, happy looking skin:

1)  Learn about your skin and how to care for it during every season.  What does it need?  How does it appear day-to-day?

2)  What are the skin issues and concerns you would like to address?  Do you suffer from fine lines, sun damaged, spots, sagging jowls, or dark circles?

3) Get regular facials to keep pre-mature facial skin aging at bay. Ideally, I recommend that you get one every 6-8 weeks.  You can lessen these times if you need correction.  If you’re great at taking care of your skin with product and diet, a simple seasonal facial might be enough.

4) Include the latest ingredients in your facial skin care routine.  Here are some of the latest I’ve been offering my clients—

  • Peptides.  The newest ingredient in anti-aging products for skin care, this very costly and complex component is used only in the most premium of skin care products.  It stimulates the production of collagen to restore a youthful glow, increases circulation, strengthens the capillaries, and more for the reduction of wrinkles, and increased firmness and tonicity of skin.
  • Vitamin C.  The antioxidant properties of this wonder-working vitamin will slow the rate of unstable molecules or “free radicals” in your skin, thus preventing skin dryness, wrinkles and fine lines.
  • Reveratrol.  Powerful with no less than 17 times the antixoidant properties of common antioxidants found in wrinkle cream, this scientifically tested product is greater in restoring your youthful glow than a whole host of vitamins, including E and C.
  • Stem Cells from Vegetables. Rejuvenate your age and protect your skin from UV-induced aging with this powerful, natural ingredient.
  • HGH.  Also known as Human Growth Hormone, this protein-replicating substance is usually found in the brain’s pituitary gland.  A strong metabolic powerhouse for the prevention of wrinkles and stabilization of growth and fat, it lessens in your body as you grow older.  Replenishing your body with HGH will restore your youthful look.

Remember, just because we age, it doesn’t mean we can’t look and feel attractive. If you are happy with your looks and feel, then you have discovered true beauty.  A balanced lifestyle is the key.

Julie, thank you for help…

Julie, thank you for helping me with my acne rosacea skin. Didn’t realize my poor diet actually cause a lot of the issues. I’ve seen incredible change in my redness area and overall my skin looks healthier after 2 months following your diet program. I’m sharing this with some of my friends and we are now doing the diet together. Thanks again.

No time for Green juice?

If you are not able to get your daily greens or time to make your own fresh pressed veggie juice, I highly suggest you have this product handy. I often take Green Defense with me where ever I go when I don’t have access to a blender. It takes 1 minute to blend and you are set for the day. A great remedy to drink before bedtime if you have consumed too much alcohol. Drink it (double strength) to help neutralize your stomach and you feel better the next day.

5 Things to Avoid If You Want Healthy Skin

A plethora of tips and suggestions can be found here and there regarding ‘how to maintain healthy skin’.

However, not many people are talking about what you should avoid in order to preserve the natural moisture of your skin and keep it healthy. There are a couple of things you need to watch out for which we will discuss in this article. Before you go any further I want you to know that I truly believe in the saying ‘prevention is better than cure’. So, your emphasis should always be on protecting your skin instead of paying for the damage done.

Here are the 5 things you should avoid in order to keep your skin healthy and radiant:

Avoid the Sun:

First and the foremost, protect your skin from sun damage. Of course, you can’t hide in a dark place until its dark.  What I mean is that you should always wear protective clothes and use a good sunscreen when you are out and about. Remember, the sun rays are strongest between 10 am and 4 am. This is the time when you need to be extremely careful.

Drink Enough…

Secondly, make sure that you are drinking enough fluids. Water and fresh juices should be on the top of your list. Avoid fizzy drinks or energy drinks; they won’t do any good for your skin.

Avoid Alcohol and Smoking…

Alcohol and smoking are definitely two things that are highly hazardous for the skin. Alcohol and nicotine can contribute towards pre-mature aging of the skin, wrinkles and dryness. At times, smokers and drinkers also get brown patches on their skin due to the lack of oxygen to the outer layers. Remember, nicotine blocks the way for oxygen and other important nutrients to reach the outer layer of the skin which stops it from rejuvenating.

Don’t Use Harsh Chemicals…

Unfortunately, most of the skin care products today come with chemicals that can damage your skin badly. Even the most top notch products that claim to be safe are the same. The best way to make sure you are using safe products is to check the labels for alcohol content and preservatives. If alcohol is present in the cosmetic then you must avoid using it.

Eat Well…

As they say ‘you are what you eat’. This is especially important to understand when it comes to taking care of your skin. Try to include lots of fresh fruits and raw vegetables in your diet. Also, grains, meat and whole foods should be taken to make sure your body gets all the nutrients such as proteins, vitamins, minerals and the like.

Something to think about!

Best,

Julie

A Lovely Message About Balance

We spend a majority or our lives learning about opposites. What is right and wrong or good and bad, but when do we really spend time on being in balance?  When it comes to the care of our bodies and our skin, we have to try and maintain a balance, especially when it comes to pH.

Now, instead of forcing you to relive your high school chemistry class days, I am going to show you an informative glimpse into the world of pH.  We need to put our attention on the ideas around acidity and alkalinity.  It is common to think that acid is bad and alkalinity (or base) is good, while that might be true in some cases, it is not always true.  The North American diet is full of junk food and over processed food which is acidic and too much acid can lead to health problems.  Heartburn, bloating and burping are common reactions to a very acidic diet. Not so ladylike, if I do say so myself.  But it can also have more serious effects as well, so the answer? Balance.

Well a balance of pH that is, which is not necessarily 50/50.To maintain health, the diet should consist of 60% alkaline forming foods and 40% acid forming foods.  To restore health, the diet should consist of 80% alkaline forming foods and 20% acid forming foods.

The alkaline foods help to cleanse your body of bacteria and toxins, which are not pleasant for anyone.  So, let’s challenge ourselves to become more conscious of our diet in terms of acidity and alkalinity.  We need to restore our pH, we need to help our bodies feel good.

If you would like a chart of all these wonderful foods under their respective Acid or Alkaline categories, subscribe to the blog and leave a comment below! I will email a copy to you directly :)

Reclaim Your Radiant Glow!

With spring just around the corner, a new and invigorated energy sets in. Now is the time to really focus on that radiant glow that we feel we lost during these chilly winter months.

Instead of hitting the drug stores and buying the newest and hottest trends in skin care and makeup, why not try a simpler and much easier approach…your food.  It is much more beneficial to adjust a regular habit, such as eating, then to go in blind to find a miracle product that promises results overnight.

Who would have thought that what we put into our bodies actually affects our skin? Well, actually a lot of people! It seems that almost everywhere except America has a better and more conscious approach to food and how it affects our bodies, moods, and energy levels.  Here we are bombarded with over processed and pre-packaged food which strip away the good nutrients in the food .

Now we have become unintentionally lazy and buy foods that appear to make our lives easier, microwavable chicken nuggets, pre-made pasta dishes, or if you live in a city like New York, you can’t escape the hotdogs and pretzels being offered to you on the streets. We need to get back to the intention of how food was supposed to be eaten.  Chewed, and digested properly.  We have turned this process into a rollercoaster for our bodies to handle.  If we gave our bodies a week (or even a few days) of more fruits and vegetables, we would feel an improvement as well as see a difference in our skin.

If you want to achieve a healthier glow, in a completely natural way, turn to fruits and vegetables.  I will name 5 foods that you can easily add to your diet.  And if you find it easy enough, take a look at the three cleansing Skin Fitness Diets that I am preparing for those who want to look good and feel good.

AVOCADOS!

Don’t get nervous about the fat that everyone warns about in avocados.  They have good, monosaturated fats and their health benefits far outweigh their caloric and fat contents. They have 60% more potassium than bananas and are rich in Vitamin B, E and K.

GINGER!

Ginger is great for other uses than alongside sushi.  Ginger can increase the skin’s radiance and has been shown to decrease inflammation which may have been due to acne or psoriasis.  Ginger is an antioxidant, which means it attacks the free radicals which contribute to skin damage and aging.

NUTS!

Who doesn’t love a good trail-mix every once in a while? Nuts in moderation can have wonderful benefits for your skin.  They are rich in Fiber and Antioxidants such as Vitamin E, which are super important for fighting the signs of aging.  Eating nuts has also been shown to reduce your risk of heart disease.

BERRIES!

Yay! More Antioxidants! Seeing a pattern? Easily added to yogurt or cereal, berries are great for your skin because  they help the body manufacture collagen which helps the skin look supple and smooth. These lovely additions are a great source of Vitamin C and Vitamin E.

CARROTS!

They make your eyes twinkle, right? Well they’re actually good for your skin and eyes because they are a high source of beta-carotene. They are also rich in Vitamin A, which  aids in the development of skin cells and the maintenance of proper skin cell health. A vitamin A deficiency can lead to dry skin.

Well there you go! It isn’t about a quick fix, it’s about doing what is right for your body and your energy. Try adding a few of these foods into your diet and see how you feel.  I guarantee that a bag of carrots will satisfy you mentally and physically more than a trip to that vending machine will!
